Dr Justine Pick

Executive Secretary to Committee

Justine Pick is Executive Secretary to the Society’s Committee, looking after administration and is the charity contact. She is a historian of sanitation and public health focusing on nineteenth-and-early-twentieth century Britain. Justine’s research has focused on the development of local authority systems for water supply, waste management and public health and explores the impact of those systems on the population and has published in Urban History.

Other interests more broadly include local and regional history, particularly Birmingham and the English Midlands. Justine is an Honorary Research Fellow with School of History and Cultures at University of Birmingham and administrative editor for the peer reviewed journal Midland History.

Currently Justine is research lead for Unlocking the Vaults exploring the history and legacy of Birmingham Municipal Bank (supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The University of Birmingham).
